Scientific seminar
As part of its annual cultural program, the History Department at the College of Education for Women organized a scientific seminar titled:
"Gender Equality in Islam."
The seminar was delivered by Professor Dr. Iftikhar Abdul Hakim Rajab and Assistant Professor Dr. Nadia Mahmoud Farhan.
The seminar focused on the concept of gender equality from an Islamic perspective. The speakers explained that Islam, as a comprehensive and balanced religion, advocates for justice between men and women while considering their natural and functional differences. The seminar also highlighted the legislative and ethical framework in Islam that guarantees the rights of both genders, emphasizing how Islam promotes values of complementarity between men and women to achieve a cohesive and just society.
The seminar underscored that gender equality in Islam is founded on principles of justice, respect, and effective partnership in building society. Islam does not discriminate between men and women in terms of human dignity or basic rights but values the role of both in fostering development and stability.
The event was attended by several faculty members and department staff, enriching the seminar with constructive discussions and deep exchanges of ideas on the topic.
