Scientific seminar
As part of its annual cultural program, the Department of Geography at the College of Education for Women organized a scientific symposium titled:
"The Concept of Citizenship and Its Relationship to Belonging – A Perspective on the Problematic Use of This Concept in Extremist Zionist Thought."
The symposium was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Majeed Jasim Mohammed and Assistant Professor Dr. Enas Mohammed Saleh.
The symposium focused on the concept of "citizenship," which has garnered significant attention from Western intellectuals and thinkers and occupies a prominent place in Western thought literature. The discussion also addressed how this concept has been explored in extremist Zionist thought, where it is considered a cornerstone in the establishment of the Zionist state and an indicator of the transformation of the Zionist entity into a state inclusive of all its citizens.
The lectures emphasized the importance of this concept and its implications in the current historical context, marked by increasing efforts by Zionist intellectual leaders to redefine the concept of citizenship and link it to authority and the state. This is aimed at advancing their aspirations for Arab and international recognition of "Israel" as a state inclusive of Jews, at the expense of Palestinian rights.
The symposium witnessed notable attendance from the college's professors and department members, enriching the discussions and fostering the exchange of deep ideas on the subject, contributing to the achievement of its scientific and cultural objectives.
