As part of its annual cultural program, the Department of Geography at the College of Education for Women organized a scientific symposium titled "The Role of Geographers in Achieving Sustainable Development," delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Hameed Hussein Farhan.

The symposium highlighted the concept of development in its various dimensions, the historical evolution of the term, and the strong relationship between geography and development. It aimed to emphasize the role of Development Geography in studying and achieving sustainable development, as well as predicting the future dimensions of developmental studies, which serve as a foundation for building modern societies.

Additionally, the symposium discussed the importance of sustainable development as a global priority, with all nations striving to achieve it to ensure a balanced and sustainable future.

The event was attended by several faculty members from the department and college, enriching discussions and enhancing the exchange of ideas on the role of geographers in achieving developmental goals.
